Work on his new CD “The Distance” is always ongoing , there is no corporate Sony budget for this old dude, songs are being continually re-worked in the search for a good blues /goodtime feel groove. Gus believes that being a roots artist is not merely the playing of a genre but that the music must have echoes of the past. He has released two cd’s in the last 10 years “All About Flight” (1999) and “Grinn” (2004) One of his songs from “Grinn” (DeepRiver) is included on a compilation (ABC Kingfisher Dreaming) Digitally you can down load tracks (or a complete CD) on a number of music sites around the world (sample) or purchase. So as the dust settles on another gig, in some far-flung regional town a Music Festival or maybe some spirited busking in the streets of Albany, Northam, Nungarin or Broome. Gus is going…going the distance, with his stomp box, harmonica and a couple of old guitars, packed up in his battered old Volvo wagon registration GUS. To the next gig, wherever that may be… |
